I used this resource with my intervention sixth graders to review/reinforce the different between fiction/narrative and non-fiction/expository text. Students cut out pictures from Scholastic book orders for each category and glued them to the chart in the appropriate column.
I included definitions/indicators for each type of text. I also made this a partner activity to encourage discussion and interaction about the topic. The second page contains sentence stems for students to use as they work together to complete the task. You can either copy it on card stock and fold it in half, or cut it in two and put it on the tables.
This is a simple activity, and great for both visual and kinesthetic learners! It is also a great learning center activity.
