Each product is a Common Core aligned resource that is the perfect way to teach your on-level students and students who are struggling with identifying the central idea in nonfiction texts. Students will enjoy reading the nonfiction articles that center around a relevant and engaging topics.
Students will use a double column notes organizer to help them tackle the nonfiction article. In addition, the article has been chunked into four different sections. Each section includes a separate subheading that students will use to create a question and then closely read that section of text to find evidence to answer their self-generated question. During the third read of this activity, there are two options for the graphic organizer. Option #1 is for lower level students who may struggle with piecing together the supporting details to determine the central idea of the text. This organizer is broken down into smaller chunks.
