This product contains four reading strategy activities I call "3-2-1 Reading Snippets." I use these snippets as during-reading and after-reading activities to give students a quick way to organize what they just read.
The first three snippets are for fiction. Each one varies slightly from the next, and you can decide which will work best for you depending on the text you have the students read.
The fourth snippet is for non-ficiton. This snippet works great for any kind of informational text in English, history, science, or in a non-core elective class or subject.
I use these with my 10th-grade students, and it works well with novels and short stories. For novels, I have one for each chapter, and my students have used them on "Huckleberry Finn," for instance.
My wife uses these successfully in her 4th-grade classroom. Therefore, they are versatile and can be used in most grades.
What I like best about them is that once the reading is done and the students have organized their reading on the snippet, it makes it easier to have a class discussion about the text. Every student has something to say because they have already written down something about the text.
