Did you ever wonder what to do with all of those extra book orders that come in the mail? Here is an idea on how to use up those extras in a fun and educational way.
When we get to that point in the year where we are learning about the difference between fiction and nonfiction books, I pull out my extra book orders and let the kids look through them. I encourage the students to cut out pictures of a variety of books and sort them into fiction and nonfiction piles. After checking with a buddy to make sure that they have them sorted right, the kids can then choose their favorite ones and glue them onto the page shown below. It's a good, fun way for them to practice the difference between fiction and nonfiction, and it really seems to help them get it down.
