Description

Even our youngest readers need to be able to decipher between fiction and nonfiction texts. This PPT presentation and book sort activity is perfect for reinforcing this foundational skill.

The baseball themed Powerpoint Presentation, Hit the Books, will assist you in leading your students through a series of questions that they could ask themselves in deciding whether a text is fiction or nonfiction. The PPT presentation is partially editable. The background of the slides has been secured; however, the text explanations have been left editable. This gives you the perfect opportunity to change the language to match your own!

There is also an original sorting activity that gives students the opportunity to practice their skills. The sorting activity includes word boxes for fiction, nonfiction, and their definitions, eighteen original book covers, and eighteen sample sentences. {I have created all my own book covers to avoid any copyright infringements, so the books will NOT be familiar to the kids.} Students will identify the features of the books and sentences and decide how they are to be sorted.
