This book report assignment can be used in late elementary school classrooms through high school English classes. One of the objectives is to motivate students to read by giving them the opportunity to choose their own book. It can be helpful during class time so students who finish work early can turn to their book to read. The other objective for the teacher is to use this motivation to build lessons on: Understanding the elements of a Plotline; Indirect and Direct Characterization; Literary Analysis and Literary Critique. The rubric helps the student understand what is expected of them when completing this assignment.
