Do you offer independent reading time in your classroom? As a teacher, I want to provide my students time to practice their reading skills in the classroom, but I want to make sure that students are truly reading and can be held accountable for the time invested. This guided reading worksheet can be adapted to any fictional reading text, whether your class as a whole is reading the same text or if students are reading differentiated materials according to their reading level or interest. Use this worksheet any time you want to see your students interacting with their text and/or thinking about their reading. This is an excellent resource to have on hand if you are ever going to be unexpectedly out of the class and can be completed with a substitute. It's also a great resource to have on hand if you have a student or two, or five, who need a little extra support and guidance to stay on task.
This free resource is ideal for any middle or high school English Language Arts class.
