***UPDATED APRIL 2017-Add a final published piece template in Google Drive for students to publish their mysteries and some student samples to use as examples.
Have students write their own Mystery! In this file you will find a great student graphic organizer to help students pre-write a mystery including all of the essential parts: setting, suspects, victim, detective, problem, clues, and solution. This 8 page graphic organizer is a great story planner to help students publish a wonderful mystery story.
After the planning is complete this rough draft paper will help students lay out their story in an easy way. This project supports my Mystery Writing Graphic Organizer, but could also be used for creative writing too. This writing project supports ELA CCS for Narrative Writing.
Once students finish their rough draft they can take their story and polish it off either on writing paper, making a booklet, or by typing it on the computer. Grading is made easy as their a rubric provided for your convenience.
Tired of paper and pencils...no worries! I've also included both the graphic organizer, rough draft, and a final published piece template in a Google Doc. Just make a copy and share with your students. Instead of writing on these sheets they can type in their ideas and craft their story using technology.
