A Breakout/Escape activity is similar to a scavenger hunt. Students have to solve puzzles in order to open a box that is locked with several different types of locks. A digital breakout uses a Google Form instead of a box and students must input all of the lock codes correctly in order to finish. Usually, the teacher has a small token for all winners such as a homework pass, certificate, pencil, etc...
In this Breakout/Escape activity, students will interact with digital media including articles, fake texts, and various puzzles in order to find the codes to unlock the five types of locks. Students will need to be collaborative team members and problem solvers in order to break out of this activity.
