This print and go Figurative Language unit is perfect for learning to identify and analyze 7 common types of literary devices: similes, metaphors, idioms, personifications, alliterations, onomatopoeias, and hyperboles.
Because we want students to be able to not only identify figurative language but also grasp the meaning behind it, this unit focuses on providing students with opportunities to experiment with them as they create their own work. They are also encouraged to analyze examples and think critically as to the author's intended message.
This unit includes the following:
-Interactive Notebook figurative language cover page (half sheet size)
-10 colored posters
-Black & White reference sheets for each literary device covered in this unit (half sheet & full sheet sizes)
-Activity sheets to use during mini-lessons (half sheet & full sheet sizes)
-2 Page list of Mentor Texts
This resource would be great to use whole class, in small groups, in guided reading groups, in a center, as remediation, for intervention, and even for tutoring.
