Teaching or reviewing figurative language with your students? Looking to increase student understanding of similes, metaphors, idioms, hyperbole, and personification? Looking to challenge your student with higher-level poetry analysis questions? This money-saving bundle is for you!
Included in this product are two-sided guided note and practice activity sheets for the five types of figurative language listed above. Students take scaffolded notes, read examples with explanations, and complete practice questions. Students then read free-verse poetry containing each type of figurative language, and analyze how the figurative language is used within the poem.
To reinforce all types of figurative language, two additional products are included. In one, students read poetry, identify the multiple types of figurative language used within, and answer highly rigorous questions related to the author's use of figurative language. In the second activity, students are asked to find and analyze figurative language in songs of their choice.
Finally, two fill-in-the-blank assessments are included. These no-prep formative assessments will gauge how well students are understanding the basics of figurative language.
