This cumulative activity challenges students to identify aspects learned in the Language Arts Curriculum. Students must identify similes, metaphors and personifications in a passage. They must also be able to create synonyms and antonyms for certain words within the passage. Questions will be asked about qualities, setting and point of view. There are also short multiple choice reading comprehension questions based upon the passage. As an extension, students will be asked to create a drawing of the passage including: title, caption and 3 sentences to describe the picture. This lesson was used in 6th grade class, but may be adapted up or down per grade level. This lesson can take an entire period.
