This fun activity will help students differentiate between and identify different types of figurative language such as similes, metaphors, personification, hyperboles and idioms. Two or three of the examples could fit more than one category and should provide some interesting discussions!
Simply hand out both worksheets to a group of students, tell them to cut out the examples of figurative language and rearrange them on the grid in the correct categories. In my class I've made this into competition and the first team done correctly first wins a small prize.
Check student tables with answer key.
