This file contains two sets of figurative language dominoes and includes the following terms:
simile, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, imagery, metaphor, idiom, oxymoron, irony, personification, alliteration, symbolism, allegory, understatement, and allusion
Set 1 matches terms and definitions.
Set 2 matches terms and examples.
Here's how it works: Print each set of dominoes (1 page) on card stock or other heavy paper and laminate it for durability. Cut the 14 domino cards apart, mix them up and put them in a small bag. (I always make 6 sets so my students can work on the same set in groups.) Students match the terms and examples (or definitions) end-to-end or stack them like stair-steps. I have my groups compete against each other for extra credit points.
This is a great, quick review that is interactive and engages ALL students. After you try this set, check out my other dominoes sets for more quick, easy review and practice! Enjoy!
