This is a one day lesson based around the six different types of figurative language. This activity allows the teacher to show the class an example of figurative language. The student then need to decide what type it is, they should write their answer on a whiteboard (or you could have them make cards with the 6 types to hold up) and then show you so you can formatively asses their understanding.
This lesson includes a one day lesson plan, I used this for one whole 50 minute class period. The time will vary depending on your students understanding of the topic.
The lesson includes 8th grade CCSS, materials list, printable flashcard, and the lesson plan I used.
When printing you should print pages to be double sided, this will put the examples on the front and the type of figurative language on the back.
