PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This "french-fry" hands-on activity requires students to classify different types of figurative language as either simile, metaphor, hyperbole, or personification.

I printed the sentences on yellow card stock to make them look like french fries! I also went into a nearby McDonald's and asked them for four french fry boxes. They happily gave them to me! I then wrote each type of figurative language on the side of the box; my students love this activity!

There is also a handout attached that requires students to compose their own example of each type of figurative language. I have them complete this together with their group after they finish the sort.
