This is a figurative language unit to teach students to use and identify Idioms!
This is a comprehensive unit including 60 individual task Cards, a poster (or anchor chart), a tracking/recoding sheet and answer sheets.
Everything is printable and re-useable when laminated.
Understanding IDIOMS is a huge step to improving reading comprehension and writing.
The poster has an illustrated explanation in kid-friendly language.
The tasks include example in context, images and require students to identify and use idioms.
Once a student understands and becomes familiar with figurative language, he/she will be able to include examples in writing tasks successfully and confidently. This knowledge also improves comprehension, making students aware that literal meanings aren't always right.
This is a great unit for ESL students and adults, teaching the usage ideas.
Although there are 60 task cards, you don't need students to complete all, I find they understand quickly and go on an "idiom hunt" themselves.
