This is a figurative language unit on Onomatopoeia! There are 32 individual task Cards, a poster, a tracking/recoding sheet and answer sheets. I've used 1 QR Code for Quietube.
Understanding onomatopoeia is a fun step to improving reading comprehension and writing.
Once a student understands and becomes familiar with figurative language, he/she will be able to include examples in writing tasks successfully and confidently. This knowledge also improves comprehension, making students aware that literal meanings aren't always right.
This is a great unit for ESL students and adults, teaching the usage ideas.
Although there are 32 task cards, you don't need students to complete all in the same term; revisit later. I find once students understand onomatopoeia, their awareness and comprehension skills improve and they begin to deliberately use it when writing.
