Product Description
You’ve introduced figurative language to your students, but they are still confusing them… so what do you do? You practice, at least that’s what I would do :0)

This Practice Identifying Figurative Language with Post-it Notes resource was created as a necessity with my 3rd graders. After introducing each of the different types of figurative language in isolation and pointing them out as we read various texts, some of my 3rd graders still needed additional practice. That’s when I decide to create a fun and interactive activity that I could use as a center, as independent work, as an informal assessment, and even as remediation.

Because my kiddos absolutely love Post-it notes, and in all honesty so does their teacher, I knew they would be perfect for this activity!

My Figurative Language {Post it Note Practice} includes the following practice for hyperbole, personification, idiom, metaphor, simile, alliteration, and onomatopoeia:
* a definition Post-it for each of the 7 fig. language skills
* 6 different Post-its with sample phrases for each of the fig. language skills
* a Post it template page with lines for you to print so that students can record additional fig. language phrases that they come across while reading. This template can also be used to record additional * phrases students come up with on their own.
* 15 Questions test to assess students understanding of all 7 figurative languages
* Test Answer Key
