Here is a brief description on each poster:
IDIOMS are a very unique way to make a point about something. Sometimes they drive English language learners up the wall.....get it!? A great activity with idioms is to write the idiomatic expression on top of a blank sheet of paper, write its literal meaning on the bottom, and a picture of what the idea might look like to someone who hears the expression and takes it literally!
SIMILES are a great way to compare two unrelated things so that people can better understand what you mean on compositions! This poster will go great with its sister poster, Metaphors. Be sure to find that one as well in my writing posters section. Figurative Language is just like hot sauce, because, when used correctly, it can add flavor and spice to any composition.
Using PERSONIFICATION in your students' essays will bring them to life in more ways than one! This is a great tool for any creative writing classroom, because figurative language is like Hot Sauce. It's brings the spice and flavor to student writing when used sparingly and appropriately!
METAPHORS are a great way to compare two unrelated things without using like or as so that people can better understand what you mean on compositions! This poster will go great with its sister poster, Simile. Be sure to find that one as well in my writing posters section.
From the time we can barely speak, we learn how to exaggerate! HYPERBOLE is one of my favorite types of Figurative Language because it reminds me of my dear father, who was ALWAYS over and under exaggerating!
ONOMATOPOEIA is a great way to get the reader's attention on compositions! This is my favorite poster because it is the first one I made to help teachers and students. Figurative Language is just like hot sauce, because, when used correctly, it can add flavor and spice to any composition. I really enjoyed finding the perfect picture to fit each sound on the poster, and I hope you and your students love this selection of sound choices as you work on writing in your language arts classroom!
