Product Description

Objective:

Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings, as well as effectively use figurative language in writing.

For this activity, students will create an extended simile or metaphor for A Place in the Sun. Or you can edit the document for a book other than Place in the Sun.

  • Write five comparisons. You may make your comparisons as wild and crazy as you like!
  • Students will choose the one simile or metaphor they feel is the best description of your book, and then write an informative paragraph explaining how and why this simile describes your book.
  • Around/near the paragraph, they will insert or draw images that helps demonstrate your simile! These must have some color!

Project directions, example and a scoring sheet is included! You can easily push this Google Doc. out to students so they can edit the document with their own work. You can print or keep this as a digital document!
