This activity can be applied to any text, book, chapter, etc.! It is a way for students to apply what they already know about figurative language by finding examples within a text and explaining the meaning. There is a brief word bank that defines 7 basic types of figurative language.
The second page would be a great tool for visual/spatial learners! Students will illustrate the figurative language examples, as well as the meaning. It would benefit all students, especially if used with any ESL, SpEd, or younger students.
I have used as center work, as well as independent practice after a mini-lesson.
