In an ever increasing effort to help my students write more engaging pieces, I stumbled upon this fun little figurative language activity. Students write and illustrate an example of each figurative language on a snow globe, cut out each and fold in half face up. Then they glue the edge of one globe to the edge of another, working around until the last edge of the fourth globe is glued to the back of the first globe. Does that make sense? When it's done they have a great little stand up globe to sit on their desk to help remind them to use more figurative language in their writing.
Each globe includes an Atlanta, Georgia skyline as a shout out to my home. I've included a blank set as well so you can write in the skill you'd like them to work on.
