This sort is a great way to review figurative language. I used this activity during test prep time, but it could be used during any figurative language unit.
There are 6 cards for students to sort for each of the 7 types of figurative language included. Simile, metaphor, alliteration, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, and idioms.
The activity is set up in two ways. One as a large manipulative cards that can be put into a center with a recording sheet. The other version included, is a premixed list of the same examples that students can cut, sort, and paste on to a piece of construction paper. This is a great way to assess student's knowledge of figurative language.
