Want to review figurative language in an exciting way?

In this spoons game I have included similes, personification, idioms, and metaphors. In my classroom, I play using these directions:
1 group has 4 students and 3 spoons.
The dealer deals 4 cards to each student. Once students have had a chance to review their cards the dealer says pass and the student chooses 1 card to pass to their left. After a student has 4 cards that all go together, they steal a spoon. The student that gets left without a spoon has to say "Prove it." Then, the student that took the first spoon has to show their cards and prove to the group that they have all of the cards for that type of figurative language (the word, meaning of the type of figurative language, and 2 example sentences). If the student has it correct, the student without a spoon gets an "S" and the game continues until a student spells out "SPOONS" or until time is up.
