This figurative language product includes two pages of figurative language choices including onomatopoeia, personification, similes, and idioms. Students sort the figurative language choices printed on each of the lights. They cut and glue each figurative language choice and glue onto their respective "strings" to make "holiday lights".You can differentiate! I purposely limited each page to just two figurative language choices to keep the selection less confusing for lower readers such as English language learners. The lights can be colored in as the cover shows or left black and white. I included a writing page where students can write three figurative language expressions and illustrate.
To challenge above level students, the writing page can be used to create original figures of speech. In addition, you can have students cut out all the lights for both pages for sorting and they can use both sets of lights all at once with four sorting choices.
