Figurative language is used throughout literary text, especially poetry, and helps the reader visualize the events, setting, and characters of the text.
These cards should be used after the students have been taught the different types of figurative language used in literary text. They will help students identify what the author is trying to get them to visualize through the use of similes, metaphors, hyperbole, and personification.
Use these task cards in a literacy center for review, or with a small group for reinforcement. Use the answer sheet with the QR code if you want students to check their own answers or the one without it to check them yourself.
