Product Description
These self-checking task cards link to labeled PHOTOS showing the correct type of figurative language using QR codes! The visuals take self-checking QR codes to a whole new level of engagement and support ELLs and visual learners. My energetic students love when I tape these figurative language task cards around the room to let them MOVE while reviewing hyperbole, idiom, metaphor, personification, and simile. This activity is based on 4th grade ELA standards.

For this independent center, students read the task card clue and record the type of figurative langauge shown (3 differentiated levels of answer documents included). Then, they check their answers by scanning the QR codes with any Smart device (they LOVE this part). A color photo appears to show the correct answer!

For added engagement, the passages are giraffe themed!

What if I don't have a way to scan the QR codes?
No worries! Check out the photo version of this set instead!

Includes:
hyperbole
idiom
metaphor
personification
simile

Each type of figurative language is included twice. One card refers to the definition, while the other gives an example of the figurative language in the context of a paragraph.

This resource works with any FREE QR code reader app to easily integrate technology and makes an engaging, nearly no prep technology center for 1:1 iPad classrooms, BYOD schools, and classrooms with just a couple old Smartphones (like mine!). :)
