This activity is designed to be done in partners or groups, but it could be done individually. Each group/individual is assigned a figurative language term and a transitional word/phrase. They are also given the beginning of a story. The groups/individuals will create a segment of the story that includes their assigned figurative language term and starts with their transitional phrase/word. At the end of the activity each group will put their part of the story in order to create one long, silly story which includes application of transition word/phrases and figurative language. The students really enjoy working together on this activity and laughing at the crazy story that comes out of it in the end.
