This fan holds a summary of Figurative Language devices IDIOMS, SIMILE, HYPERBOLE, METAPHOR, IRONY, ALLITERATION, PERSONIFICATION and ONOMATOPOEIA to serve as desktop reminders students as they are working.
Students keep these fans on their desks or in folders to refer to as needed. The explanations jogs their memory and provides a novel, quick reference for students to flick through for information or to use during group or center activities.
FREE BUT if you like this, could you PLEASE leave some feedback! It is so important to new sellers like me.
You have the choice of a US or English version. You can also print in color or black and white.
Printed and laminated, they are a great resource that I've used for many activities.
They are easily displayed and used; they hold a summary of the needed information, and serve as a reminder of the Figurative Language tools and skills you've discussed.
The fan is laminated and held together with a split pin, (a brad) in US so you can include all or as many of the blades as you wish. You can add blades according to the skills and ability of individual children.
Each blade has a skill summary.
Scatter on desks throughout the room; have hanging somewhere available for individual use or give to particular groups working on a skill. A suggested group activity is simply reading and discussing the information on the blade. They allow students to recall and use the skills.
Students love the novelty of these fans. Something they haven't seen before, although the skills are familiar.
