Description

Figurative Language and Imagery - task cards with content perfect for middle school or upper elementary. The topics include similes, metaphors, personification, and hyperbole, and imagery of sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell.

NOTE: For a digital version with one task card per slide, and ready for students use with text boxes, etc for their answers on Google slides, see Figurative Language Task Cards Digital Resource. This PDF version is also included with the digital resource.

With thirty cards in the set, there are cards about each individual type of figurative language and imagery as well as cards with mixed practice of all four types of figurative language and cards with mixed practice of all five types of imagery.

Student activities include identifying types of figurative language and imagery, explaining or illustrating the meaning of figures of speech, and completing and writing sentences with figurative language and imagery.

These task cards are designed specifically for middle grade kids. The cards are large – two cards per page and have more content per card than many of the smaller task cards – perfect for older kids who can handle more than one quick question per card.

Included with this set is a blank answer sheet for students to fill in their answers.

Task cards are great for small group work, class games, and individualized practice, and they help kids to really get the concepts.

Also included in this set is a list of suggestions for ways to use task cards and a list of suggestions for easy differentiation with task cards.
