Product Description
Get multiple uses out of this set. Students will study figurative language (figures of speech) and literary devices by recording an example provided by the teacher or by finding one within a text. They will then refer to a reference page/definitions page. After they record, they will identify the type/types by using a check-list for reflection, then they will record/explain the meaning of the device or WHY it is its type!
Students will study irony, idiom, simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, and there is space for an "other." Study one for a week, or study a variety, or review known ones, and move onto others! It's ALL up to you and how you want to use this form.

There is a 4 day and a 5 day page; each comes in a set; one has a grading space at the bottom, one does not. Also included is the reference page of definitions. Designed for multiple uses, multi-use.
Flexible use options:
-use for whole group or small group or individuals
-use in lit. studies/novel studies/book clubs
-use for a HW packet or a page in a project
-use for remediation or review or spiraling
-use as a warm up or do now "bell ringer"
-use to supplement ANY reading/writing program
-use for remediation/intervention
-use to bridge reading and writing: after studying similes, students may need to add similes to their own writing piece!
