This activity contains 5 poems and text-based questions focusing on identifying figurative language. It was created to serve several purposes:
1. To have students practice the Marking The Text strategy.
2. To begin teaching students how to analyze poetry.
3. To continue teaching students how to recognize figurative language and the purpose in using figurative language.

This was originally created to accompany a unit on 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher for a 9th grade pull-out class. That said, this could be useful for any lesson in which the focus is on identifying figurative language in context.
