This resource contains 18 no prep printables to help your students practice the following types of figurative language within poetry:

  • onomatopoeia

These poetry worksheets are self-explanatory and could be completed by students independently in a distance learning packet if your students have already been introduced to the different types of figurative language.

Each type of figurative language has 3 practice pages. Poems are included on each page so that students can improve their understanding of figurative language within a text. Use for figurative language review, centers, or homework in your 3rd grade, 4th grade, or 5th grade classroom. You can also use these for guided reading or the I Do, You Do, We Do model.

The poems are short and make a good introduction to figurative language within poetry. A variety of activities and questions are included.

A rubric is also included to help you easily assess your students' understanding of figurative language within poetry.
