These lessons guide students to analyse the lyrics to ANY SONG, before challenging them to write their own!

This is one of my all-time favorite sequences to run in middle school, either stand-alone or as part of a full Figurative Language Unit.

Kids love the opportunity to choose their own song to research, share their passion with classmates and finally create a song in a ‘songwriting team’.

Included are the infinitely reusable A3 handouts, student exemplars and a figurative language assessment task.
