Figurative Language with Pictures

Figurative Language with Pictures
Product Description
My kiddos love doing this small group activity, to wrap up our unit on Figurative Language! First I find pictures online OR have the students bring in a picture... Make sure there are enough pictures for each group to get one. I then pass out the activity for them to complete as a group. The group looks at they picture that they were given and then comes up with 6 different figurative language phrases that describe the picture:
-Alliteration
-Simile
-Metaphor
-Personification
-Onomatopoeia
-Idiom

For example, if the picture showed a group of children playing on the playground, students might write:
-Alliteration: Polly prances proudly, pouncing on the playground
-Onomatopoeia: Whee! Hooray!
-Personification: The slide sang with joy.

This activity really requires the students to extend what they have learned about Figurative Language... and it's fun =D.
