I created this file folder activity for my special needs kids who are working on basic action verbs and need many repetitions of an activity. This set includes the following 12 verbs: zip, wash, brush, blow, comb, eat, drink, bathe, buckle, slide, carry, laugh.
1 printable cover
2 sets of small verb cards
1 set of large verb cards in color
1 set of large verb cards in black & white
1 set of sentence frames
1. Student picks a verb and places it in one of the sentence frames.
2. Using their finger, the student reads the sentence frame word by word with the verb (i.e. “I can zip”).
3. Student places the verb card next to the matching verb on the top half of the folder.
I use the larger verb cards once the student demonstrates familiarity with the verb labels. Depending on their goal (i.e. receptive or expressive) I will ask them questions such as the following:
RECEPTIVE: “Point to zip” (from a field of cards)
“Who is zipping?”
EXPRESSIVE: “What is she doing?”
***Please see preview files to view the activities closely and determine suitability for your students. Feedback is always greatly appreciated, it earns you discounts while helping my store stay successful. Thank you!
