Hello and welcome to my shop! :)
This listing is for a fun educational "File Folder Game" that you can print from the comfort of your home! This file folder game will help your child(ren) write and identify uppercase and lowercase letters as well as help develop fine motor skills.
How to play: The left side of the file folder is a play dough mat. Show your child(ren) how to roll play dough into a snake to form the shapes of the letters. While doing this say the letter's name and the letter's sound. After, show your child(ren) the images used down below and give examples of words that start with that letter. Show your child(ren) how to roll play dough into balls to fill the circles that make up the images. If you choose not to laminate or use play dough there are plenty of other alternatives you can use to fill in the letter shapes and fill in the circles that make up the images. Such as, pom- poms, stickers, bingo chips, and cheerios.
The right side of the file folder teaches tracing and writing skills. Simply show your child(ren) how to connect the dots with the big letters at the top of the page. After they've completed the connect the dots activity they can move forward with the write and trace with the uppercase letter, lowercase letter, and then both. Then it's time for some I Spy fun! See how many times your child(ren) can spot the letter they've been working on. You can cover it with any of the resources we've talked about such as cheerios, stickers, play dough balls, or my favorite - bingo chips! Bingo chips are the best because they're colorful but clear so you can see the letter through it. They're very cheap and easy to find- However, they are a choking hazard for children under 3 years. The last activity on the page is a review, your child(ren) can say the letters in order and fill in the blank.
What is a "File Folder Game"?
File folder games are versatile, inexpensive, and store easily! Use a file folder, which are usually very cheap ($5 for 100 at Walmart). They're an excellent learning tool for children of all ages. Used by parents for a quiet activity, rainy day, or to reinforce a skill, homeschools, daycares, and teacher's classrooms.
Just print out the pages, use a pair of scissors if you wish to trim or round the edges of the pages, laminate the pages onto the file folder, and you're ready to go!
