Fantastic activity for individual practice or centers. Students practice letter sounds using the beginning part of common words.
-26 individual file folder games - one for each letter of the alphabet.
-9 game pieces for each letter of words that "do" or "do not" start with that letter. Each game piece is labeled with a number (01-26) so you can make sure they get back to the right folder if they get mixed up.
The "I Can's" for Common Core:
1) I can recognize and name all upper and lowercase letters (RF.K.1)
2) I can find and say the initial sound in simple words. (RF.K.2)
First, glue the pages onto file folders, then cut out the picture cards. I laminated everything and put the picture cards in bags for each game. See thumbnails for pictures of what the finished product looks like! My pre-k kiddies LOVE doing these during centers. If you want, you could draw a smiley face on the back of the cards that are sorted under the smiley frame. This could be used for your students to self check their answers.
