This fill in the blank style poem asks students to choose different adjectives when describing themselves using Shel Silverstein's poem "Colors" as a model. A list of adjectives is provided as well. I use this handout as half sheets with a front (the poem) and a back (the adjectives). It's an opportunity to discuss how we view ourselves and asking them to use adjectives other than black, brown, white, etc. to describe their physical attributes.
