The following handout or worksheet is a challenge or game for your film studies students to challenge themselves to watch films out of their "comfort zone." This bingo card encourages students to watch films from different critical periods in film history and film theory, and the card is organized from left to right with filmmaking styles ranging from realism to formalism. Within each period are the most notable works within it (e.g. under film noir is "The Maltese Falcon"). The assessment component is up to the instructor. I've had students write a one-page write-up and deliver presentations on their "bingo" winning five-watched works. Enjoy and encourage your students to learn more about film and its impact throughout history and the world.
