This unit was created for seven to eight 90 minute class periods. However it can easily be extended or shortened.

Unit "I Can" Statements:
- I can compare and contrast a written text to one similar text of a different medium.
- I can analyze how lighting, sound, color, and camera angles affect the portrayal of a film or play.
- I can compare and contrast the purpose (strengths and weaknesses) of different text mediums.
- I can use genre specific elements to compare and contrast author’s purpose and theme.

Activities include: group work, large and small group discussion, reading, watching & analyzing film, reader's theater, role playing, etc.

I taught this fun film and lit unit last year and my students loved it. It went really well for both my advanced and IEP students, and kept all learners involved and engaged. I'm excited to teach it again!
