Product Description
This activity is an awesome way to have students practice for the MSL's (Measures of Student Learning) or final exam. The assignment should be completed while (or after) reading chapter six of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. This assignment was created with a "retold" version of the novel, but it will also work with the original text and language.

Students will answer ten multiple-choice questions concerning comprehension, diction, mood, literary devices, etc.

For the constructed response portion, students must describe the image Hawthorne crafts of Pearl; students must provide at least three pieces of evidence from the text to support their answers.

A rubric is included as well as a key. The rubric shows students how they'll be graded while also providing the teacher with grading instructions.

This activity aligns with the following Common Core Essential Standards: RL.9-12.1, RL.9-12.3, RL.9-12.4, W.9-12.4
