This is a VERY extensive PowerPoint. It includes 63 slides. The presentation is based on the ten social studies skills: reading timelines, reading maps, reading charts, reading political cartoons, interpreting political cartoons, interpreting primary sources, making inferences, outlining, understanding of content, and compare and contrast. The presentation begins with defining the difference between a knowledge and skill based question. Then there are a series of practice questions from the NY state social studies tests- 5th and 8th grade. Then the presentation moves into a format where a skill is introduced and defined, then there are practice questions from the state test. Students are to identify if it is a 5th or 8th grade test question.
