OVERVIEW:

The 28 task cards included in this collection are designed to give your students practice with how checking accounts work. Questions focus on calculating account balances after a series of transactions. These problems also include overdrafts and having to calculate overdraft fees. Questions also include joint accounts in addition to single accounts so students get an idea of how each type of account works. These task cards correlate with Unit 3 in the Financial Algebra 2 course described in this Chalkbeat article & website.

8 Task Cards Working with Calculating an Account Balance These task cards do not include any overdraft transactions. They do include problems such as… Derek and Meredith have a joint checking account with a balance of \$2750. Meredith pays the \$93 electric bill online with their debit card. Derek deposits his \$750 paycheck. He also deposits the \$50 he received as a gift. Meredith also deposits her paycheck, which is \$875. She then writes a check to pay the monthly \$500 in rent. What is the balance of their account after these transactions?
