Encourage students to envision their financial future in terms of education, career, earning milestones, and saving/spending plans. This product contains a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation on time frame goals and S.M.A.R.T. goal criteria, detailed instructions for creating a vision board in Canva or Google Slides, instructions for writing a short-term, mid-term, and long-term goal applying S.M.A.R.T. goal criteria, and a rubric to grade the project.
Start the lesson by showing the Ted Talk by Angela Lee Duckworth "Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance", discuss what it takes to be successful, and have students reflect on the video. I like to use post-its to answer the written questions and have students build a wall of their thoughts. Please see the thumbnail image for an example.
After presenting the PowerPoint presentation, students will create a digital vision board for their future in Canva or Google Slides (instructions included) based on the device they are using. Then students must write a short-term, mid-term, and long-term goal using the S.M.A.R.T. criteria and identify 3 factors that may influence each goal. The file also gives a sample goal and 3 factors that could influence to help guide students in their goal creation.
This file includes a rubric for grading based on 55 points. I like to do this project at the beginning of the semester to help me get to know my students. It's also a great project to help students visualize the future. Students then create goals that help them accomplish their dreams.
***Note to Buyer: If you are NOT interested in the instructional PowerPoint you can purchase the project individually at S.M.A.R.T. Goals and Digital Vision Board Project
