These Task Cards are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and cover the following:
5.10 Personal Financial Literacy. The student applies mathematical process stand-ards to manage one’s financial resources effectively for lifetime financial security. The Student is expected to:
5.10(A)_____Define income tax, payroll tax, sales tax and property tax.
5.10(B)_____Explain the difference between gross income and net income.
5.10(E)_____Describe actions that might be taken to balance a budget when expenses exceed income.
5.10(F)_____Balance a simple budget.
You can use the cards in different ways.
For guided or independent practice: In a developing lesson, you may follow the number in the card to guide the students.
For Learning Centers: Use the recording sheet of the game “I’m Broke” or “Taxing”.
For Interventions: You may use the cards in one-on-one tutoring to develop un-derstanding of the main concepts.
