This resource is a low-floor, high-ceiling math game that is easy enough for your struggling students, but provides plenty of opportunity for students who are ready to think about numbers more deeply. Students will be thinking about the flexibility of numbers as they work on making different combinations to arrive at the numbers they need to make 4 in a row. Since this game will be different every time your students play, it should keep their interest for several weeks.
Students will roll 4 dice and use those for numbers to build an equation using any combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division. Once they have solved their equation, they will cover that number on the board. The board includes numbers 1-40. The first player to cover 4 in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) is the winner of that round.
