This pack contains 12 monthly variations on a fun counting & graphing game. All you will need is copies of the graphing paper, laminated copies of the counting pages, and cubes or chips to help your students.
Here’s how they play:
Each student gets a counting mat and a graphing paper.
One picture at a time students count how many of the picture, then color to show that many on their graph in the correct column. The pictures are in quantities up to nine.
I give my struggling students cubes. They place one cube over each picture they find. Once they’ve found them all they snap their cubes together and count them up. This gives them something tangible to count.
After the students color in their graphs, they write the totals at the top of each column.
These games cover the following Counting & Cardinality Common Core Standards:
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.B.4a-c: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.B.5: Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1–20, count out that many objects.
