Directions for Set-Up/Use:
*Print baskets and eggs on cardstock or heavy weight copy paper and laminate for durability.
If using b&w baskets- print on colored cardstock/paper to make them more festive.
For eggs: Can either cut out on lines (rectangles) or cut around the eggs to make them oval.
To make them self-correcting, write the digraph on the back of each egg (shamrock & chick will have 2) either before laminating or with a permanent marker after laminating.
Spread baskets out. Place eggs in a pile, spread or in a basket.
Students select an egg, say its name and place it on the basket that has the picture’s digraph on it.
Continue until all are sorted. Have students flip the eggs to see if they all match.
You can also place only 2 (or 3) digraphs out at time for students to distinguish between if they need more practice with those types or if the others haven’t been covered yet.
Have b&w printable available for early finishers/as a center extension activity. The other printable makes a great morning work/homework for review and extra practice!
Make it ‘egg’-stra ‘egg’-citing by placing egg picture cards inside actual plastic eggs! Students can crack them open and then sort! You can even tape the sorting mats to actual Easter/Spring baskets too!
